- Cisco Investments raised USD 44 million in October 2024 to help Xscape Photonics develop its ChromX platform through a Series A funding transaction. Using multi-color, programmable photonics technology, this platform seeks to improve AI data centres scalability and performance.
- In February 2024, Cisco Systems (US) worked with Microsoft Corporation to carry out an advanced 800Gbps transmission trial on the Amitie transatlantic cable. This trial used Acacias Coherent Interconnect Module 8, which is driven by a digital signal processor and advanced silicon photonics.
- In May 2023, SkyWater Technology worked with PsiQuantum to create silicon photonic chips for future quantum computers. The chips are being made at SkyWaters facility in Minnesota. This partnership supports PsiQuantums goal of building a cost-effective quantum computing system with over 1,000,000 qubits, using silicon photonics, which can impact multiple industries.
